Offshore drilling ban has been officially lifted by President Bush

President Bush is urging the lawmakers in congress to support exactly what he is doing to combat gas prices, which is lifting the long time offshore drilling ban across the coastlines of America. He indicated today that "The American people are watching the numbers climb higher and higher at the pump, and they're waiting to see what the Congress will do".
This is his quick Jerk reaction to the rising gas prices of doing something.
The Governer of Louisiana loves and welcomes the idea: "We're sending tens of billions of dollars overseas, often to countries who are not friendly to us ... this is one of the reasons we've got such a large trade deficit,"
Well that is true, but there has got to be other alternatives!
California Governer does not want offshore drilling on his state's coastline and Arnold will keep on fighting.
"The Bush plan is a hoax. It will neither reduce gas prices nor increase energy independence," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Under the 1981 federal moratorium, states are prohibited from allowing offshore oil and gas drilling and exploration, protecting virtually the entire Atlantic and Pacific coastlines and sections of the Gulf of Mexico.
Critics of lifting the drilling moratorium say it would jeopardize the environment and that production would take years to get up and running, and thus is not a realistic answer to the current supply crunch.
The president and members of the white house are pushing for a two phases implementation process by first lifting the congressional ban and then legislating a precise distance from shore where drilling would be possible.

What happened to the alternative fuels legislation and policy. Out the window! I am for finding more oil in the right places, but lets not destroy the Earth and the scenic areas of America.

Lets protect our nation of rogue nations that we pay billions for their oil and supply is not enough to cousion our comfort. But lets do it through other alternative ways to fuel our vehicles and livelihood. Lets use water to supplement the gas we use in our vehicles. To convert water into HHO, a more cleaner and efficient fuel, to double the gas mileage. It would be as if we were paying $2/gallon. Remember those days? Good!
